1. Force reboot your iPhone

On iPhone 6 and older models:

Press and hold the Home and Power buttons simultaneously for at least 10 minutes, then your screen will turn black. Do not leave the buttons until the Apple logo appears.

As soon as you see the Apple logo, release the buttons and wait for your iPhone to restart.

On iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus:

Press and hold both the volume down and Sleep/Wake button simultaneously.

Release the buttons when the Apple logo appears.

On iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and later models:

Quickly press and release the volume up button and then quickly press and release the volume down button.

Now, press and hold the Power button until the iPhone screen turns black. Don't release the button until you see the Apple logo.

2. Use AssistiveTouch

If force reboot cannot fix the iPhone screenshot not working, you can try the Assistive feature of iPhone to take screenshots without pressing buttons.

Step 1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.

3. Use 3D Touch

If you are using an iPhone 6 or later model, you can also use 3D Touch to capture screenshots on your iPhone. But to use this alternative method you need to enable AssistiveTouch with the steps above. Then follow the steps below.

Step 1. Open AssistiveTouch settings screen and locate 3D Touch option under Custom Actions section.

Step 2.Tap 3D Touch option, then a list of actions that can be tied to 3D Touch will be displayed. Select the one labeled Screenshot and make sure there is a blue check mark next to it.

Now you can take screenshots on iPhone by just pressing the AssistiveTouch circular icon strongly.

4. Charge your iPhone

Sometimes the screenshot not working when your iPhone is on low battery. You can charge your iPhone and wait until your device shows more than 60% battery status. After that you can try to capture your iPhone screen again with traditional method to test whether it works well.

5. Update iOS version

You can also try to update your iOS system to the latest version to fix the screenshot not working on iPhone issue. Just go to Settings > general > Software Update to check for new updates and install the update if there is one.
