The Apple Beta Software Program lets Apple users try out the pre-release software and then get feedback on quality and usability to help the company identify issues, fix them and make Apple software even better. There are two types of beta software program, one is Apple Developer Program, the other is Apple Beta Software Program (which is known as public beta). Participants in Apple Developer Program are allowed to test and build Apple applications, and participants in Apple Beta Software Program can test the public beta version and provide feedback for Apple to report bugs and advice. Here we will provide a complete guide on how to download iOS beta on your iPhone whether you want developer beta or public beta.

Part 1. How to Download iOS 12 or 13 Developer Beta

Apple releases iOS 12.4 beta 7 to developers on July 16, 2019, which is the latest beta version for iOS 12. And on July 29 this year, the most recent iOS 13 beta, iOS 13.0 Beta 5, has been released to its developers already. Whether you want to download iOS 12 or 13 beta, remember to make an archived backup of your iPhone before you begin to download the iOS beta. Since the beta version may still have many bugs to work out, so we don’t recommend installing any beta on your daily device. Moreover, before you download iOS 12 or 13 beta, you need to make sure that your device is compatible with the new firmware. Here is the official list of devices that are compatible with iOS 13 beta.

  • iPhone XS and XS Max
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod Touch (7th generation)

iOS 12 beta supports iPhone 5s or later, iPod touch (6th generation), iPad mini 2, and iPad Air or later.

1. Download iOS Beta with Developer Account

If you have a developer account with Apple, you can follow the guide below to download iOS 12 or 13 developer beta easily. Without a paid developer account (Apple App Developer Program memberships cost $99 per year), you won’t be able to download any non-Xcode betas. Installing iOS 13 requires Xcode 11 beta already installed and macOS 10.15 beta already installed. While installing iOS 12 via iTunes requires Xcode 10 beta already installed.

Step 1.
Download the configuration profile from the download page.
It’s suggested that you download the configuration profile directly onto your iOS device.
Step 2.
Click on the “Discover” tab.
Step 3.
Click on the operating system buttons in the bar near the top of the screen.
Step 4.
Tap Download.
Step 5.
Log into your developer account.
Step 6.
Go to the iOS beta 12 section or iOS 13 beta section according to your need and tap the download.
Step 7.
After the profile is downloaded successfully, connect your device to a power cord and connect to a stable Wi-Fi.

Step 11.
If prompted, enter your passcode.

2. Download iOS Beta without Developer Account

If you do not have a developer account but still want to try the iOS developer beta, it’s also possible. However, developer beta may be more unreliable and with more bugs than public beta, so we recommend you to use a public beta if you don’t want to pay for a developer account. But if you don’t mind taking a risk and you have a secondary device, here is the guide to download iOS 12 or 13 beta without a developer account.

Step 1.
Click here and get the iOS 12 beta profile on your iOS device. If you want to download iOS 13 beta, launch Safari on your iPhone and copy the link below to the search box.
